How Stress Makes You Sick

This month the Counselor's Corner is investigating stress. Each week a new article that explores stress and how we can manage it will be posted. To start the month we would like to draw attention to how stress affects the body. This video from by the Emory University professor of medicine Sharon Bergquist, outlines what scientists know so far about the stress-sickness connection.

Life will always be filled with stressful situations but what matters to the brain and the body is how you respond to the stress. Bergquist recommends viewing your stressors “as challenges you can control and master.” It is easier said than don but given the affect of stress especially chronic stress it is probably worth investigating.

Please check back next week for some tips on responding to stress.
